What’s wrong with feeling heavy in the head?

The patient feels that his head is particularly heavy. From the perspective of TCM, this is considered to be caused by phlegm-dampness obstruction. In Chinese medicine, dampness is a sticky obstruction, and the spleen likes dryness but hates dampness, so phlegm and dampness are most likely to trap the spleen, resulting in impairment of the spleen’s function of transportation and clearing, which will lead to dizziness, dullness and pain in the head because the clear yang does not rise. Patients also have symptoms such as fatigue, weakness and lazy speech. From the Western medicine point of view, if the patient feels that the head is particularly heavy, it is considered to be caused by functional reasons, such as staying up late, lack of rest, brain fatigue, or the symptoms of slow cerebral blood flow due to high fat and high viscosity of the blood. If the head sinking does not ease, it is recommended to consult a neurologist to improve the CT or MRI examination of the head to clarify the cause.
