Chocolate cysts are also known as endometriosis cysts. Treatment of ovarian endometriosis cysts includes surgical treatment and pharmacological treatment. Surgical treatment in general includes laparoscopic surgical treatment and open surgical treatment. The open surgical treatment includes open ovarian chocolate cyst debulking and open adnexal resection on the affected side. Laparoscopic surgery includes laparoscopic removal of ovarian chocolate cysts and laparoscopic resection of the affected adnexa. For ovarian chocolate cysts, open or laparoscopic debulking of chocolate cysts is usually chosen if the patient has fertility requirements and is a young woman. For women without fertility requirements or postmenopausal women, excision of the affected adnexa may be considered.
