Kidney cysts should be treated according to the size and location of the cyst and whether there are lesions to decide how to treat them. If the cyst is <4cm, it is recommended to observe and wait mainly, without any surgical treatment or medication. For kidney cyst >4cm and <5cm, it is recommended to review ultrasound once every 3-6 months and regular observation is recommended. For kidney cyst >5cm, CT is done to confirm the diagnosis, whether there is separation, whether there is abnormal change of cyst fluid, whether the wall of kidney cyst is smooth and whether there is nodule. According to these comprehensive assessments, if the lesion is benign, laparoscopic renal cyst decompression can be done, and if the manifestation of cystic kidney cancer is suspected, renal cyst enucleation surgery is recommended.
