What about glutamyltransferase 238

Glutamyltransferase usually refers to gamma-glutamyltransferase, abbreviated as GGT.The normal value for men is 11~50 U/L, and the normal value for women is 7~32 U/L.A markedly high gamma-glutamyltransferase level of 238 U/L suggests that there may be hepatobiliary disorders, which are commonly seen in obstructive jaundice, hepatocellular carcinoma, viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, and so on. There are different treatment measures according to different etiologic factors, usually general treatment, drug treatment such as entecavir and surgical treatment are taken.
1. Hepatocellular carcinoma:GGT can reach 10 times of the upper limit of reference value. Obstructive jaundice usually requires biliary drainage. Hepatocellular carcinoma is often treated with comprehensive treatment based on surgical resection, and the main methods include liver transplantation and lobectomy.
2. Viral hepatitis:In acute hepatitis, GGT can be moderately elevated, and if it is persistently elevated, it suggests that the condition may deteriorate. Mainly adopt antiviral treatment such as entecavir, avoid exertion and take sufficient rest.
3. Alcoholic hepatitis: Significantly elevated GGT is an important feature of alcoholic hepatitis, but GGT can be decreased when the person quits drinking. The treatment of alcoholic hepatitis mainly adopts medication, such as glucocorticoid, Metadoxine, etc., limiting the intake of alcohol and ensuring sufficient nutrition.
It is recommended to go to the regular hospital to improve the imaging examination, methotrexate and hepatitis test to clarify the cause of the disease, to avoid delaying the condition, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
