Effective methods of treating mastitis

The first effective treatment for mastitis is the evacuation of breast milk, the application of systemic antibiotics and, if an abscess is formed, the surgical removal of the abscess. Mastitis is an inflammatory disease caused by bacterial infection of the patient’s breast, mostly due to milk stagnation, which can lead to the formation of local lumps and hard knots. The nutrient content of milk is relatively high, and if bacteria colonize the breast, it may lead to the proliferation of bacteria, so that inflammation of the breast is formed. Once mastitis is formed, the area will be red, swollen and painful, so it is important to empty the milk from the inside of the breast, which can be done with a breast pump. In addition, antibiotics should be applied to target the bacteria, usually penicillin antibiotics or cephalosporins of the first generation, etc.
