Anorectostomy is a kind of surgery to create anus artificially due to anal dysfunction, which is required for patients with low rectal cancer. Anorectostomy is mainly divided into the following steps: first, suturing the anus, which is unable to work properly due to low rectal tumor location or even damage to the anus and severe anal incontinence, and performing intestinal anastomosis after removing the tumor tissue to 2cm of normal intestine to temporarily stop all functions of the original anus. Secondly, the location of the required anal fistula is chosen. Because of the convenience of care, the anal fistula is chosen on the abdominal wall to make a good artificial anus. Because the stool is discharged from the fistula, the lower section of the rectum as well as the anus can be properly rested, providing time for the recovery of the anus after the disease. Third, because the artificial anus does not have an anal sphincter to control stool, an artificial stoma bag is needed to accommodate the stool discharged from the body. If there is no obvious damage to the anus, if the original anus returns to normal after a certain amount of time with an anal fistula, the anorectomy can be returned to restore the normal behavior of the original anus. Therefore, an anal fistula is a temporary or permanent replacement for the anus, which is artificially created.
