In cases where there is a tofu-like vaginal discharge that is also itchy, vulvovaginal pseudomycosis is most often considered.
Pseudomonal yeasts are usually found mostly in the human vagina in a healthy state, but do not cause disease. If the patient has a compromised immune system, it can invade the tissues and induce vulvovaginal pseudomycosis. Vulvovaginal pseudomycosis can also be triggered by diabetes, a compromised immune system, prolonged consumption of broad-spectrum antibiotics, and frequent wearing of tight fitting chemical fiber underwear.
Usually, the patient will often have symptoms such as vulvar itching, increased leukorrhea, and vaginal discharge, which is mostly white, thick curd-like, tofu scum-like, or watery and thin.
If the symptoms are more obvious and last for a longer period of time, it will also affect work and sleep, and a few patients may also be accompanied by leukorrhea odor. Some patients may also experience redness and swelling of the vulva, and in severe cases, cracking and peeling of the skin may also occur.
It is recommended that patients with vaginal tofu scum-like discharge and itchy phenomenon, actively cooperate with the doctor to take reasonable treatment measures, so as not to delay the condition.
