Hypomelanosis is commonly associated with bone marrow failure due to bone marrow aplasia, as well as physical and chemical factors that inhibit the hematopoiesis of the bone marrow. For example, low myelodysplasia is commonly seen in aplastic anemia, granulocytopenia, and pernicious anemia; for example, benzene compounds, hair dyes, paints, and aromatic compounds, including gasoline, are commonly found in the environment and can damage the human bone marrow, causing suppression of the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow, resulting in bone marrow failure.
