The HIV test can be done in a hospital by going to the Infection, Infectious Diseases, or Venereal Diseases departments, where the HIV antigen antibody or viral load can be checked to determine if the patient is infected with HIV. If the patient is infected with HIV, the antigen antibody will be positive, and the viral load of HIV can be detected in the blood. Other tests such as lymphocyte count, liver and kidney function and imaging should be done as soon as possible to assess the patient’s condition. Once diagnosed, the patient should be treated as soon as possible with antiviral drugs to suppress the virus in the body and prevent progression to the AIDS stage and death.
