How to treat lung rales

The treatment of pulmonary rales depends on the nature of the rales, which are categorized into dry rales and wet rales. Wet rales are more common in the clinic and are mainly caused by airway infections, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis and other infectious diseases, so anti-inflammatory medications should be taken orally if wet rales are present. If the dry rales are caused by airway obstruction or spasm, the treatment of dry rales is to relieve the spasm of the airway. Oral asthma medications, such as β2 agonists like salbutamol or anticholinergic medications like ipratropium bromide, can significantly relieve the spasm of the airway and make the dry rales disappear.
