What are the normal values for 17-OHP newborns

17-OHP refers to 17α-hydroxyprogesterone, and the level of 17α-hydroxyprogesterone in full-term infants can reach 6.30 ng/ml, and return to normal 0.2-2.7 ng/ml 1-2 days after birth in newborns. Adrenal steroid levels are higher in neonates at birth due to activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, and 17α-hydroxyprogesterone levels in term infants can reach 6.30ng/ ml, but it can return to normal values 1 to 2 days after birth, with normal values ranging from 0.2 to 2.7 ng/ml. When the 17α-hydroxyprogesterone level of newborns is elevated, we should be alert to the possibility of congenital adrenocortical hyperplasia, and should go to regular hospitals for consultation and treatment under doctor’s guidance.
