The swelling is greatest 3-5 days after double eyelid surgery. The general postoperative trauma recovery process includes the granulation period, sclerotic granulation period, scar formation period, and scar softening period. On the first day after surgery, wound edema begins and does not gradually subside until the sutures are removed. The skin sutures are embedded in the tissues and the edema is often heavier. After the sutures are removed on the fifth postoperative day, the edema disappears faster, the venous and lymphatic reflux is restored, and the local recovery is accelerated. At 3-5 days after surgery, the swollen skin starts to turn blue and the swelling is the heaviest, and then small wrinkles gradually appear on the skin and the edema starts to subside.
