There is no clinical way to remove dental calculus at home, but it can be improved by maintaining oral hygiene, ultrasonic scaling and subgingival scaling.
1. Maintain oral hygiene: In normal life, you should develop the habit of brushing your teeth in the morning and evening and rinsing your mouth after meals, which not only removes food debris, but also prevents the formation and deposition of dental calculus.
2. Ultrasonic scaling: dental calculus is very firmly attached to the surface of the teeth, ultrasonic scaling can be used to clean the teeth to remove all the calculus and plaque, and delay the formation of dental calculus again.
3. Subgingival Scaling: Some patients’ calculus is located in the gum pockets, which can’t be removed by ordinary scaling. Patients can be treated with subgingival scaling under the doctor’s advice to remove all the calculus and plaque from the gum pockets and periodontium.
It is recommended that patients undergo oral health checkups every six months for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of dental calculus.
