What is the method of mammography and what is the normal presentation?

According to the fifth edition of Medical Imaging, mammography is a procedure in which the patient is placed in a certain position under the direction of a physician, and an X-ray transmitter sends rays to both breasts and displays the images on an X-ray film. A normal mammogram may show no abnormalities in the nipple areola, skin, subcutaneous fat, or breast tissue. Mammography is preferred to molybdenum target examination, which has the advantages of comprehensive visualization and high resolution, and plays an important role in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant diseases of the breast as well as the early screening of breast cancer. It is relatively contraindicated for pregnant women and adolescent girls. Considering the effect of benign breast nodules during menstruation, patients should be examined 5-10 days after the end of menstruation. X-rays of the normal breast may show a nipple located at the tip of the conical breast and in the center of the areola, with a high density, usually equal in size on both sides; The areola is disk-shaped and located around the nipple, and the thickness of the skin in the areola area is 1-5 mm; The skin is linear and of uniform thickness, but is slightly thicker in the lower posterior area adjacent to the chest wall anticlinal fold; The subcutaneous fat layer usually appears as a translucent, low-density band beneath the skin, within which there are interlacing, thin, and light-density thread-like shadows; Breast tissue shows fibroglandular shadows with no obvious lumps or nodules. Mammograms can vary slightly as the body changes with age. If you need a mammogram, you should go to the hospital in time and actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment plan, do not do it on your own.
