Contraindications for women eating turtle

The effects of turtle include clearing away deficiency heat and nourishing yin, etc. Generally, turtle is contraindicated for women who are pregnant and have a deficiency of yang in the spleen and stomach.
As a traditional Chinese medicine, turtle has the efficacy of clearing away deficiency heat, nourishing yin and tonifying the kidneys. It can be used for treating frequent urination, internal movement of deficiency wind, twitching of hands and feet, spermatorrhea, internal heat due to deficiency of yin, pediatric convulsions (a pediatric disease that mainly manifests itself in dizziness, convulsions, and seizures), and urinary loss, and so on.
Pregnant women are advised to avoid eating turtle. Besides, women with Yang deficiency of the spleen and stomach should not eat turtle. Turtle should be decocted first.
Turtle is a medicine and should not be used on its own. If discomfort occurs, it should be used under the guidance of a physician, and not on its own.
