Gynostemma is a traditional Chinese medicine. It is bitter, slightly sweet and cool in nature. Attributed to the lung, spleen, kidney meridian. It is the whole herb of the gourd gynostemma plant. The effects of this Chinese medicine are to benefit the qi and strengthen the spleen (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach), dissolve phlegm and stop cough, in addition to nourishing the heart and tranquilizing the mind.
This medicine is used for treating physical weakness, deficiency of qi and yin manifesting as mental fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), dizziness, tiredness of limbs, weak sweating, fear of wind, dryness of the throat and mouth, etc. Lung heat manifesting as coughing, yellowish sputum in large quantity, dry throat, thirst, yellow urine, dry stools, etc., coughing and shortness of breath, insomnia and other conditions.
Gynostemma adverse reactions are not yet clear. It is contraindicated for people with deficiency cold syndrome.
