Poppy is an opioid and is a state-controlled plant. Its boiled water has some analgesic effect, but it may not be very useful for advanced cancer. Generally the concentration of this drug is relatively low and unstable, and it may not play a big role in pain relief for advanced cancer. If the pain is severe in advanced cancer, it is recommended to use strong opioids for pain relief under the guidance of a doctor, such as oxycodone or morphine, the main ingredients of which may also come from the opium poppy, but of course this is a drug synthesis, the concentration of the drug is higher and the pain relief effect is better. Moreover, opioids are less addictive and the amount of pain medication can be uncapped, which can stop severe cancer pain. If advanced patients are not able to take oral drugs, they can choose to use fentanyl transdermal patch.
