Acute nephritis in children, also known as acute glomerulonephritis, is usually cured with about 8 weeks of treatment. The treatment includes general treatment, drug treatment and so on.
1. General treatment: In the acute stage, it is necessary to stay in bed for 2-3 weeks until hematuria disappears and edema symptoms are relieved. Blood pressure can be normalized before getting out of bed to do light activities. Diet should be low-salt diet, and patients with severe edema should have a salt-free diet.
2. Anti-infection: treat with penicillin for 10~14 days if there is an infected focus.
3. Symptomatic treatment: after controlling water and salt intake, those who are still edematous or hypertensive can use hydrochlorothiazide diuretic as prescribed by doctor.
Children with acute nephritis have a good prognosis and can recover completely. If children suffer from acute nephritis, they should be admitted to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions.
