If it is an ordinary colonoscopy, there is generally no contraindication or requirement on diet. If the colonoscopy is performed with polypectomy, it is generally recommended to eat more fluids or semi-fluids.
1. Ordinary colonoscopy: If you just do ordinary colonoscopy, there is no dietary requirement after the examination, and you can eat according to your normal dietary habits.
2. Treatment of intestinal polyps: After the removal of intestinal polyps, it is usually necessary to fast and observe for about 24 hours, and then gradually transition to fluids – semi-fluids – general food.
(1) Fluid food: for example, milk, chicken soup, fish soup, pigeon soup, etc. These are all fluids, which are better digested after eating and will not stimulate the gastrointestinal mucosa.
(2) Semi-fluid food: for example, rice porridge, millet porridge, eight treasures porridge, black rice porridge, etc. These foods are lighter and more nutritious, which can reduce the stimulation to the gastrointestinal mucosa and is favorable to the recovery of gastrointestinal mucosa after eating.
If there are other endoscopic treatments, it is necessary to decide the fasting time and diet type according to the size of the wound and the bleeding situation, and keep the bowel clear.
If there is no other adverse reaction after colonoscopy, normal diet can usually be resumed in about 2~3 days. Regular observation should be made during this period. If abdominal pain, diarrhea, or bloating occurs after eating, it is recommended to seek medical attention and to rule out pathological factors through examination.
