ESBLs-producing Escherichia coli are Escherichia coli that produce ultra-broad-spectrum β-lactamase chemicals. The main characteristic of these bacteria is that they can make certain narrow-spectrum or broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotics ineffective, thus making the disease more difficult to treat. Many types of Escherichia coli strains are harmless to humans and are found in the intestinal tissues of healthy humans. However, some types of strains can cause infectious inflammatory diseases in humans, such as acute gastroenteritis, celiac disease, and urinary tract infections.
