Axillary temperature measurement between 36-37°C is considered normal. Axillary temperature measurement is the most common way to measure body temperature, and can be measured with a mercury thermometer or an electronic thermometer. Be sure to dry your armpits before taking the measurement, as sweaty armpits can lead to high results. Be sure to place the thermometer probe at the top of the armpit and clench the armpit during the measurement. If it is not placed on the top of the armpit or not clamped, the result will be low. When using a mercury thermometer to measure axillary temperature, be sure to measure it for a long enough period of time, five minutes or more, otherwise it may also result in a low measured temperature. If the axillary temperature exceeds 37°C consider having a fever and if the axillary temperature is below 35°C consider having hypothermia.
