Does “web training” work to treat strabismus?

When it comes to conservative treatment of strabismus, many parents immediately think of “network training”, which is actually binocular visual function training. Generally, if the child’s strabismus is not too severe, the parents do not want to operate immediately, and the child can cooperate with the treatment, they can choose binocular visual function training. This “network training” is used to train the fusion and stereopsis functions of the eyes by looking at pictures on the computer. In this way, the strabismus can be kept within a certain range. Network training can also be done after strabismus surgery to help restore and establish binocular vision as soon as possible. Generally, binocular vision training is done on the hospital’s simultaneous vision machine, but since it is troublesome to bring the child to the hospital for training every day, parents can also help their children train at home by choosing the appropriate software under the guidance of the doctor. Since the training requires the child’s cooperation, it cannot be performed for children who are too young. During the training process, it is recommended to review every 3 months to see how effective the treatment is and adjust the training level appropriately under the guidance of the doctor. Since the training is done on the computer, parents should strictly control the training time, one training in 15-30 minutes, too long may cause vision loss. At the same time, training should be persistent so that the effect will be good. In addition, conservative treatment means also include Botox injection, such as children with internal strabismus, the injection can make the overly strong extraocular muscles temporarily paralyzed, the strabismus may become smaller or even disappear, this way need to repeat the injection. Although some children with strabismus can choose conservative treatment, these conservative treatment methods only temporarily alleviate the degree of strabismus and cannot fundamentally cure it, and most children eventually need to undergo surgery. Warm tip: Binocular vision is divided into three levels: simultaneous visual function (the function of simultaneous perception in both eyes), fusion function and stereopsis function. Fusion function: includes sensory fusion and motor fusion. When the image of an object falls on the corresponding point of the retina of both eyes, the image seen by both eyes is only slightly different, and the sensory fusion function can combine the two objects into one complete object; if the image of an object does not fall on the corresponding point of the retina of both eyes, the objects of both eyes are separated, and the motor fusion function can regulate the eye movement through the visual center, and then the two objects fall on the corresponding point of the retina and fuse the objects together. The two objects fall on the corresponding points of the retina and fuse the objects together. Stereopsis: Based on the fusion function, the object seen by both eyes has the function of three-dimensional image, which can also be considered as the function of perceiving the distance of the object.
