Mental status can be restored after a grand mal seizure. Grand mal seizures are clinically called generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Loss of consciousness occurs at the beginning of the seizure and then falls, followed by gradual recovery after the tonic phase, clonic phase, and late seizure. In the late stage of the seizure, there is clenching of teeth, relaxation of muscles of the whole body, relaxation of sphincter muscles, such as urinary incontinence, gradual recovery of respiration, gradual return of blood pressure, heart rate, pupils to normal; and gradual recovery of consciousness. The recovery time is about 5 to 15 minutes. After waking up, there will be headache, or even generalized soreness, drowsiness, some patients have blurred consciousness, and then the mental state gradually recovered. Reminder to patients: If patients have grand mal seizures, it is recommended to seek immediate medical attention and active treatment under the guidance of specialists.
