What class of antibiotic is clarithromycin?

Clarithromycin is a non-restricted use antibiotic. Clinically, antibiotics are categorized into three grades according to their safety, clinical efficacy, bacterial resistance and price, which are non-restricted use, restricted use and special use. Unrestricted-use antibiotics are antibiotics that are safe for clinical use, effective, with low drug resistance, and inexpensive; restricted-use antibiotics are antibiotics that are safe for clinical use, effective, with relatively high bacterial resistance, and expensive. Special-use antibiotics refer to antibiotics with obvious or serious adverse reactions, which cannot be used at will and antibiotics that need to be strictly controlled to avoid bacterial resistance. Clarithromycin has been proved to be safe and effective in clinical use, has little effect on bacterial resistance, is relatively low in price, and belongs to the non-restricted-use class of antibiotics.
