It is confirmed by modern scientific research that green tea contains more than 450 kinds of organic compounds and more than 15 kinds of inorganic minerals, most of these ingredients have health care and disease prevention effects. Green tea in these natural substances ingredients, anti-aging, cancer prevention, anti-cancer, sterilization, anti-inflammatory, etc. have special effects, for other teas are not. Many patients with high blood pressure have the habit of drinking green tea. However, a recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Fukushima Medical University in Japan found that the effect of nadolol antihypertensive drugs on blood pressure was reduced in 10 volunteers who drank green tea. Follow-up tests in the laboratory showed that green tea blocked drug transport present in the lining of the human intestine, preventing nadolol antihypertensive drugs from entering cells. Scientists estimate that one or two cups of green tea would be sufficient in achieving the effect of reducing the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs. It is not clear whether there are other types of tea have similar effects. The researchers noted that green tea is also claimed to have many health benefits. Green tea is less processed than other types of tea and, therefore, maintains a higher concentration of antioxidant properties. Consumers need to understand the interrelationship between the two. Like other medications, the medication instructions for patients taking nadolol antihypertensive drugs state that certain medications will work with nadolol antihypertensive drugs and that the two substances interact with each other, including herbs. But the list does not include green tea. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society spokesman and consultant pharmacist in cardiovascular medicine, recommended that patients with high blood pressure who still wish to drink green tea, then the time to drink tea should be kept four hours apart from the time to take the medication, so that the absorption of the drug will not be hindered.
