What to do if your nostrils are dry and crusty and your nose is bloody?

Dry and crusted nostrils with bloody nasal discharge may be caused by environmental factors, dry rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, etc. It can be treated by rinsing the nasal cavity, nasal drops and surgical treatment. 1. Environmental factors: high ambient temperature or inhaling dry air for a long time can cause dry nostrils, and digging the nostrils a little hard may cause bloody nasal discharge, which will be crusted over a long period of time. Improve the temperature and humidity in the environment to relieve the symptoms. 2. Pathologic factors: (1) Dry rhinitis: it is a chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa, which is mainly manifested by dryness of the nasal cavity, congestion, reduced secretion in the nasal cavity or covered with thin crusts. Compound mint nasal drops and liquid paraffin can be chosen for treatment. (2) Atrophic rhinitis: it is a slow-onset diffuse progressive nasal atrophic lesion. Patients often have abnormal enlargement of the nasal cavity and atrophy of the mucosal glands, which cause dry nasal symptoms and daily nasal crusts, sometimes with blood, which can cause nosebleeds. Patients can rinse the nasal cavity, such as saline, potassium permanganate solution. If necessary, surgery can be chosen for treatment, such as nasal mucous-subperiosteal embedding surgery, anterior nostril closure surgery, and so on. In addition to the above reasons, dry and crusty nostrils with blood in the nose can be common for other reasons. It is recommended to consult a doctor as soon as possible to identify the cause and follow the doctor’s instructions for targeted treatment.
