What’s the pain in the center of my chest when I press on it?

The possible causes of pain in the middle of the chest are: trauma, infiltration of hematologic malignant tumors, metastasis of malignant tumors to the sternum, inflammatory diseases, and so on.
1. Trauma: Violent impact on chest can cause local soft tissue bruise or even sternal fracture, and there will be obvious pressure and pain when pressed, and the patients mostly have obvious trauma history.
2. Infiltration of hematologic malignant tumors: when hematologic malignant tumors invade into the bone marrow of the sternum, sternal pressure pain can also appear, mostly seen in leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma can also appear.
3. Sternal metastasis of malignant tumors: many malignant tumors can be metastasized to the sternum or ribs, leading to bone destruction or even causing pathological fracture and thus chest pressure pain.
4. Inflammatory diseases: including sternal osteomyelitis, costochondritis, mediastinal inflammation and so on, all of which may cause chest pain.
It is recommended that patients should go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the cause and give targeted treatment.
