During the full femtosecond preoperative exam and the full femtosecond procedure, patients generally experience no significant pain, but after the full femtosecond procedure, patients may experience eye pain, photophobia, and other discomforts.
Most of the full femtosecond preoperative exams are non-contact and generally pain is not noticeable. Prior to the full femtosecond procedure, surface anesthesia drops are applied topically to the patient’s eyes, so the patient typically feels no pain during the procedure.
After full femtosecond surgery, the anesthetic will gradually wear off, and patients may experience mild pain, photophobia and other discomforts. Because each patient’s pain tolerance is different, the pain sensation also varies, but most of them can be tolerated. Because full femtosecond surgery is minimally invasive, the incisions are small and the pain is relatively mild.
It is recommended that patients follow the doctor’s instructions, have regular checkups, and seek prompt medical attention when discomfort occurs.
