Routine blood tests cannot detect novel coronaviruses. To detect novel coronaviruses, real-time fluorescent RT-PCR of blood specimens is required to detect novel coronavirus nucleic acids. However, a preliminary examination can be performed by routine blood tests. Early onset patients have normal or reduced total peripheral blood leukocyte count, reduced lymphocyte count, some patients have increased creatine kinase and myoglobin, most patients have elevated C-reactive protein and hematocrit, and normal calcitonin.
