What to do if your knee bends inward

Knee bending inward is known as knee valgus. Knee valgus may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be caused by pathologic factors such as congenital malformation of bone development and trauma. Treatment includes follow-up, brace correction, rehabilitation training and surgery.
1. Normal physiological phenomenon: knee bending inward is generally known as knee valgus, which is manifested as X-shaped leg, if the patient is a child and occurs in the age group of 2~6 years old, it is usually a normal physiological phenomenon during the growth and development process, and the symptoms will be improved by themselves with the growth of age in the later stage without treatment.
2. Congenital malformation of bone development: the above symptoms may also occur in congenital abnormalities of bone development. Before the bones are shaped, patients can wear individualized supports to correct them; after the bones are shaped, most of them need to be corrected by surgeries, which are mainly based on osteotomies and orthopedic surgeries.
3. Trauma: patients after knee trauma may also have the above symptoms, most patients need to carry out rehabilitation training to balance the strength of the muscles around the knee in order to achieve the purpose of correction, common training methods such as knee extension and flexion function training, quadriceps strength training, and so on.
For the same disease, patients with different physical conditions and different stages of the disease, the treatment methods are different and should be standardized under the guidance of the doctor.
