The heart beats fast when you have a cold.

If the patient is currently experiencing a rapid heartbeat with a cold, the first thing to do is to measure the body temperature, because for every 1°C rise in body temperature, the heartbeat is likely to increase by about 12 beats per minute. Therefore, it is relatively normal for a fever and cold to cause a rapid heartbeat. In addition, some patients may currently have myocarditis, resulting in myocardial damage, which can also lead to a faster heartbeat. It is recommended to check the cardiac enzymes and do an electrocardiogram to see if there is myocardial ischemia or arrhythmia. If necessary, a cardiac ultrasound and an ambulatory electrocardiogram are also recommended. If this is due to myocarditis, it is recommended that the patient take oral vitamin C, vitamin E, and coenzyme Q10, or trimethoprim tablets to help improve symptoms. If necessary, beta-blockers such as bisoprolol and metoprolol can also be taken in combination.
