Itchy breasts, what are the causes?

Most nipple itching is related to clothing and underwear, such as fabric fibers that are allergic or too tight or poorly ventilated, especially if you live in a hot and humid environment. Sometimes some perfumes or ointments can also cause itching. Sometimes nipple itching is related to changes in hormone levels, and although breast swelling and pain are common before menstruation, some women will have itchy nipples as well. These conditions often involve both breasts or nipples. The above causes are usually not serious and will improve with a change of clothing, bathing or after menstruation. Other causes of breast itching that require attention include: 1. Fungal infections of the breast, often occurring under or on the side of the breast. 2, Skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, urticaria, and sometimes chest acne can also cause itching. 3.Sunburn can also cause redness and itching of the skin. 4, breastfeeding women can develop mastitis, which initially manifests as itching, accompanied by mild pain and nipple cracking. 5. Breast itching that is accompanied by nipple discharge and/or a fixed breast lump may indicate breast cancer. 6.Breast skin trauma can also cause itching, such as itching caused by minor skin damage from nail scratching. Post-operative itching, such as breast surgery or breast lift, can also cause breast itching, and breast enlargement can lead to skin tugging and thus cause itching. 8, certain drugs can also cause breast itching.
