How should I prevent recurrence of GERD?

The most common cause of this discomfort is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD includes what we often call reflux esophagitis and non-erosive reflux disease. Most patients can be cured with a standard course of treatment. However, there are still some patients who get better as soon as they take the medication and relapse as soon as they stop taking the medication, and their condition is repeated, which very much affects their quality of life. The main reason for the recurrence of the disease is that patients do not pay attention to the change of diet and living habits. If you compare being sick to a fire, and you pour water on the fire (take medication) while you keep adding wood to the fire (such as drinking alcohol, over-eating sweets, etc.), how can the fire be completely extinguished? Medications can be used to quickly control the symptoms of reflux, but to avoid a recurrence of the disease, attention should be paid to avoiding some of the factors that trigger the disease. Factors that have been proven to prevent the recurrence of the disease are: 1. Do not eat 2 hours before bedtime; 2. Those who are overweight need to lose weight; 3. Avoid alcohol abuse; 4. Avoid eating large amounts of sweets (such as chocolate); 5. Avoid over-tightening when wearing clothes that corset the waist.
