How long does it take for gastric bile reflux to become cancerous

How often bile reflux becomes cancerous is not conclusive and may or may not occur for years or decades. Gastric bile reflux, due to the fact that bile acids have some stimulating effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa, induces epithelialization of the gastrointestinal tract. Intestinal epithelialization is a precancerous lesion that may lead to an elevated risk of gastric cancer in patients, and is therefore a high risk factor for cancer. However, not all cases of gastric bile reflux are necessarily accompanied by cancer or the development of cancer. Some gastric bile reflux is short-term, functional, and the reflux symptoms may disappear when the causative factors are removed, so there is no clinically recognized data on the exact probability of cancer. For patients with gastric bile reflux, the clinic needs to review the gastroscopy regularly, and at the same time, the targeted treatment should be directed to the cause of the disease. Such as applying some gastrointestinal dynamics drugs, bile neutralizing drugs and so on for treatment. Most of the patients can achieve good results in comprehensive treatment through medication and improvement of lifestyle and diet, focusing on regular review for prevention.
