It is composed of Licorice, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Poria, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Bupleurum Chinense, Simmered Ginger and Mentha piperita, which has the efficacy of dispersing Liver and relieving depression (treating depression by dispersing Liver Qi), nourishing Blood and strengthening the Spleen. It is used in the treatment of symptoms such as pain in the two sides of the body, headache, dizziness, dryness of the mouth and pharynx, fatigue and poor diet, or irregular menstruation with distended and painful breasts.
In this formula, Radix Bupleurum Chinense relieves liver depression, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Paeoniae Alba nourish blood and soften liver (nourishing blood and softening liver), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Poria strengthens spleen and nourishes the heart (strengthening the spleen and stomach and nourishing the heart and spirit), Mentha piperita assists Radix Bupleurum Chinense to dissipate liver depression and Radix Ginger warms the stomach and harmonizes the middle.
