What if your child is a little cross-eyed?

The child’s opposite eyes may be visually opposite due to a collapsed nasal bridge, which can be left untreated. If the child suffers from obvious internal strabismus, the child can have the strabismus corrected by glasses and surgery to improve the appearance.
In children with a collapsed nasal bridge or medial canthus due to temporary incomplete development of the nasal bridge, resulting in visual pseudo-internal strabismus, internal strabismus can be ruled out by observing the reflective spots through flashlight irradiation and strabismus examination such as masking and de-masking, and generally does not require active treatment, and can be observed temporarily and can usually be gradually relieved.
If the child has obvious strabismus, it is necessary to complete the auxiliary examination such as the Mars bar, synoptic machine and prism, after clarifying the degree of strabismus, according to the severity of the specific situation, etc. If it is an adjustable strabismus, the child can correct the refractive error through the prescription of glasses, so as to balance the position of the eyes. If it is non-adjustable strabismus, the child can be corrected by strabismus surgery, such as medial rectus muscle reduction.
It is recommended that children with strabismus should be seen promptly for evaluation of their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions to choose the appropriate treatment.
