Non-insulin-dependent diabetes is a condition in which the patient is not completely dependent on insulin therapy for blood glucose control. Non-insulin-dependent diabetes is one of the previous ways of classifying diabetes. Non-insulin-dependent diabetes is generally equivalent to the current type 2 diabetes, because some patients with this type of diabetes are predominantly insulin resistant. Therefore, in the process of treatment, appropriate drugs that increase glucose utilization and insulin sensitivity can keep the patient’s blood glucose under control, so this group of patients does not need to use insulin therapy. Therefore, non-insulin-dependent diabetes is mainly different from insulin-dependent diabetes in terms of treatment method, which is only a classification of diabetes.
