Which part of the body is usually injected with intramuscular injections

The most commonly used injection sites for intramuscular injection are gluteus maximus, followed by gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, lateral femoral muscle and deltoid muscle.
1. Positioning of gluteus maximus injection: draw a horizontal line from the apex of gluteal fissure to the left or to the right, and make a vertical bisector from the highest point of iliac crest downward to divide the gluteal region into four quadrants, in which the upper outer quadrant avoiding the inner corner is the injection area.
2. Positioning of gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscle injection: the distribution of blood vessels and nerves in the area is less and the fat tissue is thinner, which is widely used nowadays, and the area is three transverse fingers of the lateral side of the anterior superior iliac spine.
3. Positioning of lateral femoral muscle injection: the location of the lateral thigh in the middle section, generally adults can take ten centimeters below the hip joint to ten centimeters above the knee of a section of the range, the place of the large blood vessels and nerves are rarely through, and the site of a wide range of injections can be made several times.
4. Positioning of deltoid muscle injection: 2~3 transverse fingers below the acromion on the lateral side of the upper arm, the muscle here is less than that of the buttock muscle, and can only be injected in small doses.
Intramuscular injection is a commonly used method of drug injection therapy, in the process of injection, we should pay attention to try to avoid injecting strong irritation or a larger amount of drugs.
