Isoprinosine Functions and Indications

In general, isoprinosine has anti-allergic, antiemetic and sedative-hypnotic effects, and is mainly used in the treatment of skin and mucous membrane allergies, motion sickness, anesthesia and as an adjunctive treatment before and after surgery.
It can be used to treat chronic and seasonal allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, urticaria, angioneurotic edema, allergic reactions to blood or plasma products and skin abrasions.
It can also combat motion sickness, seasickness and airsickness. Used for anesthesia and adjuvant therapy before and after surgery, including sedation, hypnosis, analgesia and antiemetic. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by radiation sickness or drugs.
Usually there are no significant side effects when taken in small doses and may be noticeable when taken in large doses for long periods of time. These include increased skin sensitivity to light, nightmares, euphoria, hallucinations, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and dryness of the nose and throat. It should be contraindicated in premature infants and newborns.
It is also recommended that patients taking ipecac are under the supervision of a physician and do not use it without authorization.
