How to flush a double lumen catheter

A double lumen catheter, which does not allow for continuous bladder irrigation, but does allow for intermittent bladder irrigation. For continuous bladder irrigation requirements, a triple-lumen catheter is recommended. Double-lumen catheter flushing method: 1, first remove the drainage tube of the double-lumen catheter, and then insert the flushing fluid into the single lumen of the access drainage tube, and instill about 150mL of saline into the bladder. At this point, stop flushing and clamp the urinary catheter shut.2. With the flushing fluid in the bladder, keep it there for 10-15 minutes and then attach the drainage bag and release the flushing fluid.3. Remove the drainage bag again, insert the flushing fluid into the lumen of the double-lumen catheter, and then instill about 150mL of flushing fluid into the bladder, clamping it shut and keeping it there for about 15-20 minutes and then releasing it again.
