When to get chickenpox vaccine

The varicella vaccine is given at different times for different people and there is some individual variation. The chickenpox vaccine can usually be given twice, the first dose before the age of 1-1.5 weeks and the second dose at the age of 4 weeks. If you have not received the chickenpox vaccine after you turn 4 years old, you can receive two doses intermittently, but the two doses need to be given at least 4 weeks apart. If you are an adult, there is no age limit and it depends on your specific situation. In addition, the high incidence of chickenpox is in the winter and spring of each year, so the vaccine is more effective when given before these two seasons. For women who are preparing for pregnancy, it is recommended to consult your doctor before deciding on the timing of the injection. Chickenpox vaccination is prohibited when you have a cold or fever. After the chickenpox vaccination, do not take a shower for 24 hours and keep the skin of the injection site dry and clean. Eat a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods, seafood, beef and mutton. If you have a fever after chickenpox vaccination, physical cooling is recommended if the body temperature does not exceed 39°C. If it exceeds 39 degrees, medication is recommended to reduce the fever. If it cannot be relieved, it is recommended to seek prompt medical attention.
