Recovery from clavicle fracture surgery generally takes 4-6 weeks. If the clavicle fracture occurs along with neurovascular injury and rupture of the oblique and tapered ligaments, as well as if the fracture is severely displaced and the patient is unable to adhere to figure-of-8 bandage immobilization, surgical treatment may be an option in these cases. Surgical treatment consists of repositioning and fixing the fracture end, repairing the ligament injury and neurovascular injury. After surgery, the patient needs to wear a forearm sling for 4-6 weeks of continuous immobilization. Rehabilitation exercises are performed during the immobilization period to prevent stiffness of the shoulder and elbow joints. Fist clenching exercises should be performed daily to promote swelling of the upper extremity, flexion and extension of the elbow joint and posterior extension and abduction of the shoulder joint.
