Acupressure Points for Sore Throat

Acupuncture point massage for sore throat should depend on the results of diagnosis. For sore throat caused by external wind-heat, Shaoshang, Hegu, Shakazawa and Quchi points should be chosen; for sore throat caused by solid heat in the lungs and stomach, Shangyang, Neiting, Tiantu and Shakazawa points should be chosen; and for sore throat caused by insufficient kidney yin, Taixi, Zhaohai and Yuzhi points should be chosen.

2. Lung and stomach solid heat points: Tiantu point can channel pharyngeal qi and blood; Shakuzawa and Shangyang points are respectively the joint points of the lung meridian and the well point of the large intestine meridian, which can clear and diarrhea lung heat; Neiting point can diarrhea the heat of the lungs and stomach, and eliminate the swelling and clear the pharynx. The combination of the above points can treat sore throat with solid heat in the lungs and stomach.
3. Kidney Yin Deficiency Acupuncture Points: Taixi point can nourish Yin and reduce fire to treat the root cause; Liejiao and Zhaohai points are commonly used in clinical practice for treating throat disorders; Yuzhi point is the Xingxing point of the Lung meridian, which can clear Lung heat and benefit the throat. The above acupoints can be used together to treat the sore throat of kidney yin deficiency.
