Pain in the middle of the chest, also known as subxiphoid pain, is commonly associated with diseases including chronic gastritis and gallbladder stones. Chronic gastritis may present with pain and distension in the upper abdomen under the glabella, sometimes accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, acid reflux and belching. Gastroscopy is required to confirm the diagnosis. Gastroscopy can detect lesions in the mucous membrane of the stomach, as well as the presence of H. pylori infection in the stomach. Gallbladder stones accompanied by inflammation of the gallbladder can also lead to pain under the glabellar process, and the nature of the pain will be slightly more intense, and hepatobiliary ultrasonography can be performed to clarify the diagnosis. In addition, such pain needs to exclude heart and lung diseases.
