What is the method of turning a bedridden patient and patting his back?

Bedridden patients should be turned over and patted on the back frequently to prevent pneumonia. Turn over and pat the back to turn the patient as a whole, pat the back to pay attention to certain techniques and pay attention to the site.

1. Turn the patient as a whole. The operator is required to stand on one side of the patient, and it is best to have 2~3 people to operate together at the same time, with one person responsible for the part above the back of the shoulder, another responsible for the lumbosacral region, and the last responsible for the lower limbs. The process of turning over should be slow to prevent excessive pulling, so as not to cause re-injury to the patient’s limbs.

2. After the patient has been completely turned over, the operator depresses the center of the palm and gently taps the patient’s back. It should be noted that some bony bumps cannot be knocked directly, and the scapula, spine, kidney area, heart and other parts should be avoided. Pat the back process, pay attention to the patient’s color, breathing, and pay attention to keep warm.

3. After turning over on one side and patting the back, change to the other side. During the process of turning over and patting the back, try to keep the movement as gentle as possible. Many long-term bedridden patients may have severe osteoporosis, which may cause some pathological fractures if they are overactive.

Turning and patting the back must not be excessive, but should master the method and follow the doctor’s method.
