Inguinal hernia is one of the most common diseases in pediatric surgical patients, commonly known as “hernia”, “gas egg”, “off the intestine”, “off the small intestine “The most common disease is the hernia. It is a congenital disease in which tissues and organs in the abdominal cavity, such as intestines, enter the scrotum through a congenital hole in the root of the thigh. Syringomyelia has a similar pathogenesis to inguinal hernia and the treatment is basically the same. The traditional surgical approach is to incise the hernia sac via inguinal incision with high ligation, which has been used in the clinic for decades. However, open surgery is very traumatic, easy to damage the vas deferens, spermatic cord blood vessels and bladder and other surrounding organs during the operation, and postoperative scar formation, scrotal swelling, testicular atrophy, testicular retraction, hernia recurrence and other complications occur from time to time. With the wide application of laparoscopic surgery in pediatric surgery, laparoscopic surgery is respected by more and more pediatric surgeons and scholars because of its minimally invasive, safe, aesthetic, and precise results. Under the magnified vision of laparoscopy, it is easier for the operator to identify and separate the vas deferens, spermatic vessels and other fine structures in the pediatric inguinal ring, and operate through the extraperitoneal space in the abdominal ring, without destroying the levator ani muscle and freeing the spermatic cord, with little interference to the spermatic cord, avoiding damage to blood vessels, nerves, the vas deferens, and other organs resulting from extensive separation of the inguinal canal, and truly achieving a high level of hernia sac ligation. Although laparoscopic surgery requires a higher level of surgical skills from the surgeon, it is easier for children and parents to accept because of its small incision, fewer postoperative complications, faster recovery and less pain for the child, and significantly shorter hospitalization time. The single-port laparoscopic surgery that our department was the first in China to carry out is the most minimally invasive of all minimally invasive surgeries. Single-port laparoscopic surgery is the most advanced method of hernia surgery, which is done simply through a small incision in the navel and into the laparoscopic instruments. Our department performs thousands of surgeries each year and has achieved excellent clinical results. First of all, our babies have no scar after the surgery, which achieves a good cosmetic effect. Secondly, laparoscopic surgery for hernia is safe, effective and has a low recurrence rate. Thirdly, we find that a lot of babies find that they have a hernia on one side and the other side develops within a short period of time after open surgery and they have to come to the hospital for another surgery and this is quite common. Our surgical method can observe whether the opposite side has a hernia during the operation, if so, it can be treated together with the operation, avoiding the possibility of re-operation.
