What’s wrong with a 6-month-old baby who snores in his sleep

Sleeping snoring in 6-month-old babies may be caused by physiological factors, or it may be caused by pathological factors such as upper respiratory tract infection and adenoid hypertrophy. 1. Physiological factors: poor sleeping posture, such as sleeping on the side, lying on the stomach, airway bending leads to the obstruction of air flow through the respiratory tract, which can also cause the symptoms of sleep snoring. 2. Pathologic factors: (1) Upper respiratory tract infection: when there are upper respiratory tract infections such as colds, rhinitis, sinusitis, etc., the nasal mucosa will become congested and swollen, which will cause hypertrophy of the turbinates and symptoms of nasal congestion. Nasal congestion will lead to increased resistance of the respiratory tract, and the air in the respiratory tract will be blocked when you are sleeping, which triggers the soft tissues in the throat to vibrate and emit a loud sound, i.e. snoring. (2) Adenoid hypertrophy: it often exists in combination with tonsil hypertrophy. Due to repeated stimulation of inflammation, pathological hyperplasia of adenoids occurs, causing narrowing of the airway and obstruction of air flow through it, which in turn causes the symptom of sleep snoring, and in serious cases, apnea can occur. There may be other reasons for 6-month-old babies to snore in their sleep, so it is recommended to go to the hospital to clarify the cause of the disease, and diagnose and treat the disease under the guidance of the doctor.
