What to do with a fractured nasal bone

Fractures of the nasal bone are usually caused by violence and may be accompanied by septal fractures, cartilage dislocation, and mucosal tears. If a nasal fracture occurs, it is usually treated as follows: First, ice can be applied to reduce local bleeding and swelling in the nose, and to relieve local pain. Patients with fractures should be treated promptly, preferably within two to three hours after the trauma, and not more than 14 hours. Patients are advised to go to the ENT department of the hospital as soon as possible for examination, to find out the extent of the injury and to take appropriate treatment. If the nasal fracture is not treated in time, the displaced bone may not be able to return to its original position, which may cause the nose to collapse and deviate, affecting the patient’s facial appearance; if the nasal wound is not closed in time, it will leave a large scar, which will also affect the aesthetic appearance of the face. Moreover, if the nasal fracture is not treated in time, it may lead to bilateral nasal congestion, which may affect the ventilation function and sleep quality. In short, if the symptoms of nasal bone fracture appear, you can first use ice, and then go to the hospital in time for consultation.
