What causes grinding teeth in bed

Tooth grinding in sleep is also medically known as bruxism, and changes in the EEG during sleep can lead to bite muscle dystonia during deep sleep, and focal bite muscle dystonia can produce bruxism. The incidence of teeth grinding is relatively high, and many people may have teeth grinding disorder throughout their lives, which occurs because of abnormal sleep EEG leading to dystonia, sometimes accompanied by nightmares or dream jumping disorder, which is a more serious sleep behavior. There is no specific treatment, but clonidine or dystonia medication can be given. Patients with teeth grinding disorder do not have poor sleep quality or sleep experience, and clonidine will deepen sleep, so there is no need to give medication for teeth grinding. If it is not very serious and the grinding is not wearing out the tooth socket and the enamel, it can be advocated to be ignored or not treated. If the very serious grinding leads to root fracture or enamel damage of the teeth, it can be assisted with dystonia relieving medication.
