Simeglutide is a hypoglycemic agent primarily used for glycemic control in adult population with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in patients who have poor glycemic control despite treatment with metformin and/or sulfonylureas based on controlled diet and exercise. The use of this drug reduces the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. Common adverse reactions during the administration of simepaglutide are symptoms of gastrointestinal irritation, such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, which are short-lived and most often do not require discontinuation of the drug. Contraindications to the use of simepaglutide include hypersensitivity to drug components, patients with a personal history or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and patients with type 2 multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome. The use of simepaglutide should be carried out in strict accordance with the doctor’s instructions, and should not be used without authorization, in order to avoid serious consequences.
